Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review
A more accessible and less heavy-handed movie than Ang Lee's 2003 Hulk, Louis Leterrier's The Incredible Hulk is a purely popcorn love affair with Marvel's raging, green superhero, as well as the old television series starring Bill Bixby as Dr. David Banner and Lou Ferrigno as the beast within him. Edward Norton takes up where Eric Bana left off in Lee's version, playing Bruce (that's the character's original name) Banner, a haunted scientist always on the move. Trying to eliminate the effects of a military experiment that turns him into the Hulk whenever his emotions get the better of him, Banner is hiding out in Brazil at the film's beginning. Working in a bottling plant and communicating via email with an unidentified professor who thinks he can help, Banner goes postal when General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross and a small army turn up to grab him. Intent on developing whatever causes Banner's metamorphoses into a weapon, Ross brings along a quietly deranged soldier named Emil Blonsky (Tim Roth), who wants Ross to turn him into a supersoldier who can take on the Hulk. The adventure spreads to the U.S., where Banner hooks up with his old lover (and Ross' daughter), Betty (Liv Tyler), and where the Hulk takes on several armed assaults, including one in a pretty unusual location: a college campus. The film's action is impressive, though the computer-generated creature is disappointingly cartoonish, and a second monster turning up late in the movie looks even cheesier. Norton is largely wasted in the film--he's essentially a bridge between sequences where he disappears and the Hulk rampages around. As good an actor as he is, Norton doesn't have the charisma here to carry those scenes in which one waits impatiently for the real show to begin. --Tom Keogh

4 out of 5 stars Big improvement on the last one...   November 10, 2008
When I sat down to watch this movie, I had no real expectations as the last Hulk movie was very poor, however with the recent spate of excellent Marvel films I was keeping my fingers crossed. Firstly I must say this was a huge improvement from the movie a few years back. The CGI was a lot less obvious and the movie had a much fuller story. Nice cameo from Lou Ferrigno as the security guard and of course Stan Lee. Looked good on Blu Ray, however not as much for me as Iron Man. Major downside for me was Liv Tyler, just didn't find her at all convincing.... to girly, breathless and pouting for a top scientist. I have to admit that I have not had the same issues on the Blu ray as some of the others here. Summary is good movie, just not quite up there with Iron Man and the Dark Knight

3 out of 5 stars Beware Potential Blu Ray Problems   November 7, 2008
The film was OK, but just that. However, the main reason I am writing this review is to warn potential buyers that this disk seems to have latest-technology content on it. The titles etc. played on my Samsung BD-P1400 OK but the film refused to play. However, I did get the film to play, eventually, by downloading and installing the latest firmware.

So, for Samsung BD-P1400 owner's, at least. Get the latest firmware first.

5 out of 5 stars Incredible!!!!   October 25, 2008
Seems some are having probs with this bd, it could be firmware updates as this is a new bd, with bdlive enabling.By the way it does not work tried several times to enable. As to the bd p.q fantastic, sound awesome.Tim Roth just about pulls it of for the bad guy,as for the rest of the acting Hulk wins.

1 out of 5 stars dont buy this on blu-ray   October 25, 2008

i got this movie the other day and like so many other people my copy will not play. my sony bdp s-300 will not touch it so if you want to watch the hulk i recommend you just get the dvd at least you will be able to watch the movie and avoid the frustration that i and so many others have had.

5 out of 5 stars Great film, unfortunately the disc won't play in my Samsung BD-P1000   October 22, 2008
I couldn't watch this film on my machine because it freezes once you select the language on the options menu. This is a similar problem to what my friend had with his machine (BD-P1400) but we managed to get around that with a firmware update (not available for my machine) so I watched it at his place instead. The film is a way more faithful rendition of the comic character while paying a lot of homage to the TV show. It's better written and directed than the Ang Lee version that simply went off in the wrong direction about the Hulks family issues and figthing rabid dogs (what were they thinking?) This film is firmly set in the Marvel Universe like the Iron Man movie and is best watched back to back with Iron Man in order to get the full awareness of all the shared continuity aspects they've managed to deliver with both movies. The best thing about the new Hulk film is that the relationship between Betty and Bruce is far more alive and a feature, than in the Ang Lee film. The fact that the Hulk gets stronger the more he gets angry is also a feature in this movie that didn't exist in the last movie. We get a much needed and brutal fist fight at the end of the movie and also a much more driven Bruce Banner who is trying to rid himself of the beast within, unlike the Eric Bana version of Bruce in the Ang Lee flick that simply went with the flow. This is the Hulk movie that they should have made years ago, Buy it as long as you don't have a Samsung BD-P1000 and use your (2005) Ang Lee version as a drink mat. BTW Anyone having problems playing this film with a Samsung BD-P1400 can solve this by downloading the latest firmware for the player.
