Product Description
Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox

Amazon.co.uk Review
"I bought a car. Turned out to be an alien robot. Who knew?" deadpans Sam Witwicky, hero and human heart of Michael Bay's rollicking robot-smackdown fest, Transformers. Witwicky (the sweetly nerdy Shia LaBeouf, channeling a young John Cusack) is the perfect counterpoint to the nearly nonstop exhilarating action. The plot is simple: an alien civil war (the Autobots vs. the evil Decepticons) has spilled onto Earth, and young Sam is caught in the fray by his newly purchased souped-up Camaro. Which has a mind--and identity, as a noble-warrior robot named Bumblebee--of its own. The effects, especially the mind-blowing transformations of the robots into their earthly forms and back again, are stellar.

Fans of the earlier film and TV series will be thrilled at this cutting-edge incarnation, but this version should please all fans of high-adrenaline action. Director Bay gleefully salts the movie with homages to pop-culture touchstones like Raiders of the Lost Ark, King Kong, and the early technothriller WarGames. The actors, though clearly all supporting those kickass robots, are uniformly on-target, including the dashing Josh Duhamel as a U.S. Army sergeant fighting an enemy he never anticipated; Jon Voight, as a tough yet sympathetic Secretary of Defense in over his head; and John Turturro, whose special agent manages to be confidently unctuous, even stripped to his undies. But the film belongs to Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, and the dastardly Megatron--and the wicked stunts they collide in all over the globe. Long live Transformers! --A.T. Hurley

2 out of 5 stars Please transform into a better film.   November 26, 2008
Where do I start with this complete mess of a film? Hmmm, well I suppose the first thing to mention is that this is not a Transformers film, at least not at all related to the original cartoon upon which it is meant to be based. Even if you forget that (the writers, producers and director clearly did) the film spends so much time away from the Transformers that it could be a sequel to Independence Day! Why do we need to see douche bag hackers and military personnel scratching their heads over computer screens? This stuff has been done before loads of times, and far better than this. Then we have boring scenes with goofball US soldiers talking about home, etc, all of which carries no plot or even the most simple character based story arc. I've heard that Spielberg pitched this to the writers as a story about "a boy and his car"....well if that's true then A: It fails, and B: It should be about giant ROBOTS!!! Who cares about a boy getting his first car??
In summary, plot holes come and go, the action scenes are badly staged and cut too fast, none of the Transformers spend enough time on screen to become a character that we care about, all the humans are annoying stereotypes, the film is too long and boring (Michael Bay hang your head in shame) and worst of all the Transformers are little more than cameos.
The only good thing about this film is the special effects, but that should be a given in this age of photo real CGI. Yeah, yeah the Blu-Ray transfer is superb, etc, of course it is.
Go and check out Transformers The Movie (the animation from the 80's), it's infinitely better than Big Bang Bay's miserable effort.

5 out of 5 stars Woah.. What just happened?!   October 19, 2008
Tell you what, this film was AMAZING! The CGI was so detailed and realistic (well.. as realistic as giant transforming robots can be!). I originally rented this on DVD, but got it on Blu-Ray earlier this week.
I'd never compare this to the Back to the Future trilogy, but if you liked those films, you want some amazing scenes and some all round fun, this is definitely for you.

5 out of 5 stars Absolutly brilliant   October 7, 2008
I bought this film from Amazon and watched it full 1080p and i have to say, this was the best movie experience i have ever had, and the best movie i have watched i ages!

The graphics and story from start to finish was inspiring! i urge anyone considering this and most defiantly via blu-ray, go straight out and get it, you will not be disappointed!

5 out of 5 stars My new favourite Bluray showoff movie   October 6, 2008

The film is good fun, but this review is about the bluray disc.

Excellent picture. Had a friend round to watch it, he has seen films on my system before (sony 40 inch bravia with PS3) but his jaw was dropping to the ground on this.

The CGI in particular is stunning on the Bluray disc, every time I watch it I notice some new bit of detail on the robots, though generally every scene is of very high visual quality.

The sound is available on DTS HD, which is very good, although it is a pity they did not go for linear uncompressed.

As I say the sound is very good, all channels are clear and crisp and the bass in particular is impressive.

This bluray disc is a brilliant showpiece for your home cinema system.
