1 out of 5 stars Why No Extras!!!   August 23, 2008
Enough has been said about the movie already cant fault that
Picture quality is a little better than upscaled DVD
Sound is good but not better than the DVD
Menus are cheap looking, presentation is poor for such publicised movie at its time of release.

Why no extras, I remember watch the making of T2 just after it was released, I cant believe that they could not include that 25 minute documentary on the bluray. Watch it on you tube insead
Poor Effort, we expect more.
No more remastered stuff for me

1 out of 5 stars WARNING! NO ENGLISH SUBS!   August 22, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

My rating is not for the movie (which is 5/5) but for this particular release. It's a disgrace to put out a release of a movie of this caliber without either english subs or extras. People living in Scandinavia are good at english, but still want the english subs so as not to miss subtleties or slang. And what about people who are hard of hearing??
It's not like there isn't enough space on the disc or a lack of readily available subs from previous releases!

This release should be avoided like the plague! Don't let Optimum make money with stunts like this!

3 out of 5 stars Hopfully this isn't the last release of T2   August 18, 2008
This is the second of the Terminator films, where a terminator is sent back to the present day to save John Connor from being killed by the T-1000. He's made out of liquid metal, so he can shape himself into sharp objects, and he's a great ventriloquist, copying humans like it went out of style. They want to stop the war before it starts, so they try and destroy Skynet, but will it really change anything in the end?

This is not a very good blu-ray disk, the quality isn't amazing but that is expected with a 16 year old film, but I do expect more remastering work done on the picture. The sound on the other hand is pretty good, 5.1 TruHD master, which is very well balanced. This is much better than the US BD, as it was riddled with compression problems, so that's one thing we can be thankful to Optimum and Canal+.

The extras are non existent: if you're looking for them you'd be better off with the Definitive Edition of T2: as you won't find anything here. There's a screen calibrator, and and audio setup, so you can check your speaker position,m but this isn't really what this blu-ray release was all about. Where are the director's commentaries with James Cameron?

One good thing though is that they've chosen to do the extended director's cut, the Americans have to put up with only the theatrical cut, which to me isn't as good as this, as you get more insight to why things happened, plus it's much more fun.

I wouldn't suggest this to die hard T2 fans, because they might be disappointed; hopefully in a few years time they will remaster this to better output, or even add more extras.

4 out of 5 stars Great transfer..shame about the extras   August 16, 2008
0 out of 1 found this review helpful

I can't believe the reviews saying this blu-ray is a poor transfer and a little better than standard dvd..absoloute nonsense!! although this doesnt rival a brand new film and is never going to look as sharp as say Transformers or something..this still is a decent blu ray picture..daylight scenes and dark scenes give lots of detail off and this easily the best ive seen this film look. If youve been put off buying an optimum BD coz of the shoddy "escape from new york"..dont worry beacause this is way way better. Even Several HD websites and magazines have giving this good reviews for the pic and sound,so ignore the negative reviwes below. I will agree though that the extras are non-exixtent..but if like me you get bored with all the extras and just want the movie then you cant go wrong with this.
