Amazon.co.uk Review The pressure was really on The Sarah Connor Chronicles right from the start. The first spin-off from the extraordinary Terminator franchise, it picks up after the events of the second film, and finds Lena Headey in the title role, who--along with her 15-year old son, John--sets about trying to save the world from the impending threat of Skynet. Along the way too, they encounter Summer Glau (whom there's a strong chance you'll know from Firefly), who steps into the shoes of Cameron, a bodyguard Terminator who helps fight off the many threats they face. She's some piece of work. Very deliberately paced, and intricately woven to make sure it safely fits within the Terminator universe, The Sarah Connor Chronicles works a great deal better than you'd have any right to expect. Tightly scripted, and with a terrific performance by Headey in the central role, the show packs plenty of action and narrative into the nine episodes of its maiden season, and it certainly whets the appetite for more. Perhaps the biggest compliment to be paid, though, is that The Sarah Connor Chronicles is a worthy companion and follow-up to the first two Terminator films, and one that genuinely expands and deepens the franchise. It'll be fascinating to see where the show goes next. --Jon Foster

Surprisingly good August 11, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I expected this to be yet another weary exercise in squeezing money out of the Terminator franchise but it turned out to be engaging and very good as a show in its own right.
While using the basic premise from TI and II, it is not hamstrung by sticking slavishly to its predecessors. The acting is top notch and the occasionally subtle and not so subtle tension that develops over the humanity of a machine is light years away from how the viewer is slapped in the face by the same theme in the movies.
It's also refreshing to see some character development. The action is still there but there's less reliance on big bangs to keep any viewers with a gnat's attention span glued to the screen. While this is at least part down to the budgetary demands of the TV format, the show conveys the impression that this approach was what was wanted anyway.
Amazing series! August 11, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I really like these series! They pick up where "Judgment day" left and continue from that point (well, 3rd film was out of competition really). They follow "Judgment day" spirit and story and do it really well. Cameron is excellent, she is like the Arnold in the first film: no emotions, pure machine. I am amazed how people can play such humanless character.
Buy this and you will not be disappointed!
Not bad but not great July 20, 2008 5 out of 21 found this review helpful
Sarah connor chronicles is bascially terminator the tv series. This isnt a bad show but it does have a lot of flaws. Firstly theres very little action in the series, something the terminator films had in abundance, now i know this only has a tv budget but other u.s tv shows manage a lot better than this though. Lena headly is no match for linda hamilton as sarah connor and plays the whole time with just one emotion. Thw hole problem is that the story struggles on a weekly basis to be intersting, padded out with teen suicides and othe rstuf no one cares about!
The second season hopefully will address the main issues here and be better. I still think the whole premise isnt suited yo a tv show but i hope im proven wrong.
A fascinating, and surprisingly good, Terminator series July 16, 2008 10 out of 13 found this review helpful
Lena Headey had a hard job to fit into the character of Sarah Connor and many said she didn't have the physique to pull it off, but she does and with some real attitude.
The script writing is surprisingly good and if you're not paying attention then much will bypass you. Many questions are also left wanting at the end which are certainly intriguing and I truly hope they make more soon.
